Looking Down A Barrel

I like this picture because this is not how I would imagine the barrel of a wave to look. At the bottom of this wave is the hard ground..the area that one does not want to visit if on a board. The ground is only visible on the side, otherwise it is taken over by the white foam of the wave. The white of the foam takes over much of the image and we are only left with bursts of color. We have bursts of sky and robins egg blue of the water, and a purple blue of the sky at the end of the barrel.

Here Comes the Sun

I really like the red in the picture that is not exactly next to the flower. The intensity of the yellow sun behind the flower makes it appear that it has bust into flames and is just a flaming ball of fire. Its intensity and brightness is at times too much to look at for too long. The red surrounding the flower has strong yellow influences and the further away from the flower the red takes on a darker black quailty until it dissolves to black completely around the edges and bottom of the photo.

What Size Are You Again?

A professional photograph has some amazing colors that show up because of the lighting choices made by the lighting designer. I love the orange colored floor hinted with yellow, amber and a bit or green. The pants legs give off ambers, yellow and greens. The amp in the back takes on a kermit green color where it would normally be white or silver. The black accents in the image allow my eye to travel smoothly across the image enjoying the changes and variances in color, tone and intensity.

End of the World Pt.1

Clearly being an enhanced image, there are certain colors that are meant to encompass and stand out in the image. I really like how everything within the picture has a green tint to it. From the yellow green pathway to the clouds and sun. I like how the little fence in the middle of the image looks to me as if it takes on some blues and greys as well that only appear because of the intense amount of greens and yellows being mixed together.

I'll Build a Stairway

I like the way that the sky is chopped into hundreds of rectangles; broken into bits by harsh bold black bars. And yet one is still able to see the colors of the sky and the big picture of the sky just as well as if it weren't there. It is also entertaining that the black starts out solid at the bottom of the picture and as one follows it to the top of the picture there are less and less bars until we are left with the bare sky.

Red Light

While the object in this image is in fact one object, the color throughout is not the same. Closest to the foreground the red is very bold, a pure red free of any other color but the slightly darker shade of red that outlines the geometrical shapes on the object. Following the object into the background of the image the red looks more pink and white than in the foreground. The image also becomes out of focus so the color blends together easier than in the foreground.

Helloooooo!

I love the turquoise color that the top of the pipe is a fantastic contrast to the rust and copper colored bricks that surround it. The black lines that separate each brick is also a great contrast to the circles seen in the pipe and its curved shape. The color that is still present inside the pipe is equally as interesting. greens, turquoise, gold, silver, black, and grey all find their way into and around the pipe and allow it to pop against the bold reds and oranges that surround it.

Haunted Mansion?

This image, even though it does not have any bold and bright colors that stand out in the picture, but the image does pop, for other reasons. Both the white and black images are covered in a hazy white ans grey color. this added color and texture allows the three colors to work together and just by seeing this little piece of the image, a distinct mood is given off to the viewer.

Black and White

The ice between the black and brown objects is what attracts the eye initially, but i find the colors in the wood on the upper right hand side to be most interesting. I enjoy looking into the cracks of the wood discovering copper, rust, amber colors that highlight the dull looking grey wood that is only interesting because of the shadow cast over it.

A UFO?!

I really like the way the blue sky looks in this picture with it being various colors of blue. Towards the bottom of the photo the sky is a yellow green blue color and as one follows it up towards the upper right corner the color gets deeper and full of more blue and white than any other colors. The black bars with splashes of red break up the blue well and creates some other interesting components to the photo. The bars are not completely black however, the reflection of the sun makes the bars look a bit more grey than they really are.

Im Not Blue

This picture dose not have any alterations done to it. It is the way it appeared after i took it. I could believe how contrasting the colors were. The blue sky has no hint of a white cloud. It does however turn a little less blue the closer to the top of the picture one looks. The tree and ladder are almost completely black. It is only up against the white building do the branches show hints of grey and a lighter blue. The building, an off white color provides an area of focus that the eye is drawn to and has variance and difference in color with the lines that take on a grey asphalt color.

Homeward Bound

This picture looks fake simply because how could someone take something that is so pretty and be able to capture it. The foreground of the image is bright full of bold browns, blacks, yellows and an abundance of shades of greens. These bright colors that get your attention at first are separated from the background of the photo by a baby blue river, the color being a great bridge between the two worlds. The background world is dominated by greys, white, brown, black, and grey blues. The colors dont seem as bright and in the face of the photographer, this is not only thanks to the colors but the location and distnace the mountains are at.

Where's the Fire?

I really like this picture mostly because of the way the colors turned out. The photo was taken in the middle of winter on an overcast day and so none of the colors are bright and bold. They are dark with lots of black, grey, and browns. The hint of snow on the left corner has again a blue tint to it that I am noticing more and more in my photos.

Charlie Brown?

I think that this picture is a good example of how snow acts like a cyclorama. The snow on the ground reflects the blue sky above and as a result it makes my sisters pants look like a deep aqua blue against the light aqua blue snow all around her. The color change is very noticeable on the shadows of her and the trees.

Barney & Bee

I'm opening a show down in the third ward that is set in a house. It has lime green shag carpeting, baby blue walls and dark amber brown trim that covers the lower half of the walls. The lights used onstage is a very light color and for the majority of instruments I question whether or not there are any gels in them. There are however and abundance of frost that takes the place of most gels and while it doesnt change to color and look of the space, when the stage lights are on, it is noticably warmer. The colors have amber, yellow and brown in them. This gives off a feeling of welcome, calming..a safe space where nothing bad will happen, and theat is exactly what the space turns out to be.

Look Ma, a Flash!

While watching a sunset a few years ago, i wondered what would happen if i turned the flash on...well here is the answer! The colors in this image to me are so far from the actual colors and i still don't know how it happened. The psalm tree in the fore ground looks the way it would in daylight, but the sunset behind it including the sand is very backwards. I really like how the sand turned black, it is a good base and contrast to the amber yellow of the water. The separation line is very clear and the line of red where the sun just left is wonderful as it fades into a yellow orange color that is now known as the sky.

This is an image from a play I did a few years ago that was lighted by Jason Fassel. The lights behing the window at the back of the set controlled and changed the mood of the play and the colors seen on stage so well. This is the final scene of the play and it is beautiful how the color engulfs the stage and actors giving the audience a story and feelings without even having to utter a single line. It is interesting also how the two actors are both wearing maroon. A lot of themselves are sitting in shadow and the color of their costumes allows them to blend into the set seemlesely. The back window is so pretty to look at, with the yellow just at the bottom and the varying shades of red that come through the mismatched glass panes. The black streaks on the windows at times gives the impression of clouds or smoke, hints of an outside world that is trying to get in.

A What?!

These jellyfish in this image are extraordinary to look at primarily because the layers of jellyfish and the way the light is hitting them makes for very interesting colors. My eyes are initially drawn to the brightest jellyfish, with their intense whites and hints of light brown or tan. The bright white jellyfish are a good contrast to the black background and they just pop more having such as dark solid background they are able to pop from.

Hello Sky

Another picture in the woods that is primarily taken over by whites and light greens. There are lots of bold greens especially towards the bottom of the image but the closer to the top, the colors slowly fade to white to get lost in the white sky. The bright white and light blue coming from behind the trees washes out the browns on the bark leaving the only intense bright green in the immediate foreground out the image.

INto the Woods

This image taken in Muir woods is striking to me because of the mix of two colors. Green and brown get mixed together in the stream above while grey and purple and blue threaten at waters edge. Towards the back of the picture one is able to see the sun shinging and turning the water into a very light kermit green, with almost a completely white center. This is so cool because just down the stream and in the foreground of the image, there is hardley any sunlight coming through and the stream is still green and brown but its undertones are black.
